March 8, 2021

♀♀♀ HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY! ♀♀♀

DRUM ROLLLLLL PLEASE!!!!! 🥁🥁🥁🥁

The 2021 recipient of the IWD Oxford Appre-SHE-ation Award is Christie Murphy!

Christie was nominated by her coworker Erika Ramsay. Christie and Erika are frontline healthcare workers in their roles as PSWs at Woodingford Lodge Long-Term Care Home in Woodstock.

Here is Erika’s nomination for Christie:

“I’d like to nominate my friend and coworker Christie Murphy. She is a Personal Support Worker at Woodingford Lodge – Oxford County, but she is SO much more than “just a PSW”. She constantly goes above and beyond daily for our residents and deserves to feel this appreciation. She kept us all calm and made us feel appreciated and lifted us up when we had Covid positive residents on our floor in Maple.

She wasn’t afraid to be one-on-one with them caring for them in our negative pressure room, in one of the hardest times in their lives. She has proved to be one of the excuse me, most kick ass ladies and front line workers I know! She deserves this 😊.”

We reached out to Christie to get some information on her background in healthcare.

“I’ve worked at Woodingford Lodge for 24 years and been a PSW there for 22 years. It has been a pleasure to work for Woodingford for all these years and alongside great coworkers and management.

While working through Covid, we have had many changes and challenges in the home. Everyone’s priority was to keep the residents safe while still making it feel like home when staff were looking a little bit different to them.

Included were different themed days which put smiles on their faces all while making sure to incorporate some extra time with someone missing their family that they were not able to see.

EVERYONE really stepped up to make the best of a very difficult situation for our residents in their home.”

Thank you to Christie, Erika and all of the workers in healthcare for dedicating yourselves to caring for others during this past challenging year. We appre-SHE-ate you!
